School of Conveyor Maintenance

The School of Conveyor Maintenance was established as a result of an industry partnership between the Australian College of Mining and Pittop Conveyor Products Pty Limited, Tyton Conveyors Pty Limited, and Austbelt Conveyors.

The School presently offers the nationally accredited Certificate III in Polymer Processing (Belt Splicing) and was one of the first registered training organisations to have such a qualification on its scope.

The School of Conveyor Maintenance Certificate III in Polymer Processing (Belt Splicing) is provided by a comprehensive mix of face to face teaching, online tutorial support, and on-the-job training. Students successfully completing the Certificate III will have a particular focus in mining and will be competent (subject to inductions) to supervise belt-splicing operations on mine sites.

In addition to the qualification in Polymer Processing (Belt Splicing), the School of Conveyor Maintenance anticipates being in a position to offer a Certificate III in Polymer Processing (Polyurethane Manufacture), a Certificate III in Underground Coal Operations (Conveyor Installation), a Certificate III in Surface Coal Operations (Conveyor Installation), and a Certificate III in Surface Coal Operations (Conveyor Maintenance) by March 2009.

The courses are designed not only for those who wish to obtain a transferable qualification or for companies who wish to obtain formal training and assessment for their employees but also for those wishing to gain entry into the industry.

Staff members of the School of Conveyor Maintenance have many years of industry experience in their field and are qualified trainers and assessors.

Further information about each of the School's courses (including nominal teaching hours, individual course competencies, delivery modes, and teaching fees) can be found in the course overviews downloadable above.
